Matthew 1:2-3

2: The line of the Messiah must come from a certain tribe in Israel, because this tribe, the tribe of Judah, was the tribe of the kings. To be the King of Israel, the Messiah had to be from that tribe.
3: The mention of Tamar is here interesting. In fact, several persons are mentioned that some people might want to leave out. However, these people are a part of the biblical account, and are included to connect Jesus’ lineage to it. Tamar was a Canaanite. She was Judah’s daughter in law, and she tricked him into being with her.

Praise Journal Entry #12030: Heavenly Father, I am so glad that You do not pass over sin as if it did not exist. You point it out, and make a way for it to be taken care of. You give us true rest from it, not just a band-aid fix. Thank You for the possibility of a life free from sin. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise You, Amen.
