Looking at this question today, we might at first wonder what the Pharisees hoped to gain by asking it. However, we must consider the volatility of the question. How Jesus answered could make him more enemies, or friends that he would not want. There were different schools of thought among the Jews on this very subject. Indeed, they worded the question in such a way that they were almost sure to get a negative answer from Christ.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me. I realize, as I look back on my life, that You have never steered me wrong. You have never caused my foot to stumble. Prayer Requests: Pray fro a family that just lost a loved one. Pray for a woman’s unspoken request. Pray for a woman having complications in her pregnancy.
