Matthew 26:6

Matthew 26:6
Bethany was Jesus’ home away from home when he wanted to stay close to Jerusalem. It is where Mary, Martha, and Lazarus lived. These three we know were good friends of the Lord, and it seems Simon may have been as well. For this reason, Bethany is a special place in the life of Jesus, much as Bethlehem and Nazareth.
The fact that Simon is referred to as ‘the Leper’ was likely due to something in his past. The most likely scenario is that the had been a leper and Jesus had healed him. This would explain why he would be referred to in this way, since leprosy was not something you would expect to find in a name. This also possibly explains why Jesus was invited to Simon’s house.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are too wonderful to fully comprehend. We cannot completely see and know all that there is to know about You. But, what you have revealed to us shows us Your manifold greatness. Thank You for Your magnanimous beneficence. May we learn to always practice that in our own lives, with Your help. Through Christ we will strive to do all that we can do to please You. You are worthy of our service. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise You, Amen.
