Mark 5:36
Notice if you will the contrast of fear and belief. Usually it would not be fear, but sorrow that would overtake a father at this point, having just heard of his daughter’s death. But Jesus tells him not to fear.
Why? Because he was preempting the feelings of sorrow by highlighting thier source. Sorrow is rooted in loss. Loss occurs when something takes something from us. We lose something to a power we are unable to resist. Thus, a fear of this unknown power leads to sorrow. Jesus is telling the man that he need not fear loss. Instead, he wanted the man to trust that he was more powerful than the unknown of death.

Joshua 10:1-12:24

1 John 5:14 “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:”

Heavenly Father, thank you for helping us to understand our feelings better. We are so often overwhelmed by them. We fear everything. Thank you for helping us to understand our sorrow, fear, and pain. May we always rely on you to manage our feelings, rather than trying to handle it all by ourselves. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen.

Those who do not understand Christ will always try to limit his ability to help them. As far as these people were concerned, death was a barrier Jesus could not cross. This reveals that they misunderstood how Jesus was able to do all that he did.

Joshua 7:1-9:27

1 John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

Heavenly Father, thank you for your compassion! You care for us all and love us so much. You have given your children the job of getting the gospel to the whole world because you love the world. You care for every last person. Thank you for your  care for us! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen.

This admonition he wanted to give to her. Though the healing had taken place, he wanted her to understand why and how. Isn’t this just like the Lord? He has saved our souls, yet he still works to help us understand what has happened.

Joshua 3:1-6:27

1 John 5:12 “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”

Heavenly Father, thank you for your long-suffering kindness to us! You keep teaching us each and every day. We are constantly learning more about you, and drawing closer to you. This is your desire, not just our goal. You give us the tools we need to do it. Thank you! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen.

She was in a very vulnerable state. Being a woman in that society was already a shameful position. She could not expect to be allowed to address the master. Beyond this, her condition was shameful and was not ‘safe’ for the public. This is why she responds with trepidation.
But, as was so often the effect, the presence of Christ melted that away, and she addressed him as more than man, but as he is truly, the Lord of life.

Deuteronomy 33:1-Joshua 2:24

1 John 5:11 “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.”

Heavenly Father, we are so glad to know that you hear our prayers no matter who we are. You do not discriminate but by one standard, do we hear your voice? Do we respond to your truth? By that alone do you discriminate between one and the next. Thank you for hearing us and working in our lives! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen.

Deuteronomy 30:1-32:52

1 John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

Heavenly Father, thank you for this father’s day! It is such a blessing to have the family that I do. Your blessings are more wonderful than I could ever expect. Thank you! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen.

Wouldn’t ‘We don’t know.’ work alright? Ah, but this fits well with our sinful nature. We don’t want to be out of the loop. We don’t want to miss anything. We want to be in the know. So, we insult those that we know are better than we are.
Jesus’ words would be an easy tipoff that something important had taken place. But, instead of thinking that through, the disciples made a sarcastic comment.

Deuteronomy 28:1-29:29

1 John 5:9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

Heavenly Father, we know so little. Yet, you allow us to know enough to have an eternal home in heaven. You teach us wisdom and knowledge because you have them. You are the Source of all truth. Thank you for teaching us! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen.

Mark 5:30

Mark 5:30
It has been my opinion that we have in this verse a very unique statement. I would not expect this to be said of anyone but the Lord himself. Any Christian who was in some way involved in the healing of the sick might know that something had happened by being told by the Spirit, but it would never be said in this case that power had gone out from that person. Miracles do not occur by virtue of any Christian person but by virtue of the Lord whom we serve.
Jesus is, of course, completely different in that he is the Source of the power for healing. So, had one of the disciples, for example, been involved in this healing, we might see the Spirit reveal the actions of the woman to them. But, it would not be said that they felt power go out from themselves. This could only be true for Christ.

Deuteronomy 25:1-27:26

1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

Heavenly Father, your gifts to us are great, and yet we often think about what we don’t have, or what you have taken away. Would we love you any more if you never let anything bad happen? In our sinful state, this side of glory, would we trust you more if there were no tests for our faith? I think not. Give us, as we all ask for grace to bear as you teach us lessons we would never learn without adversity. Help us to see the pattern of the Christian life is following in the Master’s footsteps. Christ came to suffer, and to gain the victory. Thank you for giving us that path, the road to victory. You are so wise, we trust your way! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen.

She immediately knew there was a difference. Instantly, what she had struggled with for so long was now a non-issue.
We must often ask ourselves, after the Lord has done something amazing for us, how should I respond? If you will at least ask the question, you are on the right track. The Lord appreciates those who at least try to show their thanks.

Deuteronomy 22:1-24:22

1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Heavenly Father, how can we thank you? You must give us the ability to do anything for you, otherwise, our efforts are in vain. Thank you for enabling us on the basis of our attitude towards you. Only by your grace and mercy can we make a difference in this world. Only with your help can we communicate or thankfulness to you. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen.

Heavenly Father, thank you for your Word. You give us all that we need to know about you and this world around us.
