Mark 5:27

Mark 5:27
She had tried so many things yet she immediately comes to Jesus as soon as she hears of him. And, she comes with full faith that he could heal her. She knew that he could heal her and that he could do it so easily that all she needed was to touch him.
We might ask why she knows that Jesus can heal her when the physicians had failed? The most likely answer here is that she had been depending upon the Lord for the healing all along. Though we may see a doctor for our aliments, that does not preclude our looking to Almighty God for the ultimate healing of our illness. In this case, the Lord chooses to postpone the healing until he does it in person.

Deuteronomy 14:1-17:20

1 John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Heavenly Father, how can we, in our finite state, ever understand your infinitude? Yet Lord, you have given us a knowledge of you that qualifies us as your children. Your amazing love for us makes the impossible possible. Thank you for your work in our lives. We will give you all the glory, dear Father, for you deserve every great appellation, and all of our adoration. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen.

Mark 5:26
This is one of the most lengthy descriptions of a malady in the gospels. It is quite interesting to study how that some things are explained in more detail than others. There is about as much said about this as about the condition of the man possessed by Legion.
Indeed, Mark was not one to waste words. We would do well to try and empathize with this woman, for that seems to be the purpose of this summary of he complaint. Many things of many doctors, for example, surely gives us a feeling for her plight.

Deuteronomy 11:1-13:18

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us the strength we need when we have to deal with things that we don’t like. Thank you for being faithful when others let us down. You are our Faithful Father! May we always worship you as we should, recognizing how much you have given us. We owe you everything! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen.

This malady would likely be something that not many people would have known about. Or, if anyone did, it would be extremely embarrassing for this woman. Her condition would keep her from operating normally in Jewish society.

Deuteronomy 8:1-10:22

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Heavenly Father, you understand us so well, and yet you still love us. Each thought is recorded and you know us better than we know ourselves. Lead us in the right way for us. Thank you for your mighty hand leading our every step. We can never truly know just how blessed our lives are because of trusting you. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen.

Jesus is trying to minister to this man, and he is thronged by others. Everyone wants a piece of him. They all want their time to be healed. Yet, how many of these would throng to his teaching? Yes, multitudes heard, but the crowds dwindled as he taught. The perceived value of his miracles was great, his teaching was not the same. It required a certain acceptance that most people are uncomfortable with.

Deuteronomy 5:1-7:26

1 John 5:3 “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”

Heavenly Father, thank you for your truth. Though you know that many people will reject it outright, you give it to us anyway. You have made the truth available to this old world and we can see and change. May we value your truth above all else. Thank you! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen.

Mark 5:23

Mark 5:23
It is interesting to note that in some cases Jesus heals from a distance. In others, he heals by going to the place where the sick person is. In this case, Jairus asked him specifically to come and lay hands on his daughter. It was not necessary for Jesus to do this, but it seems Jesus did always follow the requests of those who were asking for help. It would have been just as easy for Jesus to speak the word, but it was more comforting to Jairus for him to go.

Deuteronomy 3:1-4:49

1 John 5:2  “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.”

Heavenly Father, thank you for this lovely day that you’ve given us. Your goodness to us is something that we so often take for granted. We miss the little things that you do for us each day. We think of all the big things that we want, and forget the necessities of life. You have given us peace joy, love, hope, and truth. These are infinitely valuable! Thank you for Christ, and all that he has brought to our lives through salvation! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen.

Mark 5:22

Mark 5:22
This man who comes to Jesus is a ruler of the synagogue. He understood the political implications of Christ. He knew that Jesus wasn’t approved of by many of the affluent in the Jewish community. But, he comes anyway. And why? Because he also knows that only Jesus can help him. Nobody else could, or would, help.
Very often it is the call of necessity that drives a man to Christ. The prayer is that the necessity is not so dire as it was in the case of this man. It is far better to turn to the Savior while he is easily found than to wait until tragedy strikes.

Deuteronomy 1:1-2:37

1 John 5:1 “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.”

Heavenly Father, thank you for the Bible. I am so glad to live in a country where we can have church and the Bible and worship freely. May we never lose sight of your blessings! You are worthy of every moment in service to you. We will never find that we can out give you. If windows were open in heaven, they could not even handle all of your blessesngs. Thank you! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen.

Mark 5:21
Regardless of how many places the truth is thrown out of, there will always be those waiting to hear. The multitudes thronged to Christ. Yes, this following waned later. However, the message of the gospel can always find a home somewhere. As long as the Spirit is at work, the message will continue to spread.

Numbers 34:1-36:13

1 John 4:21  “And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.”

Heavenly Father, thank you for this day to serve you. You always guide us in the right way. No matter what may come our way, you know what is best. In spite of all of our best efforts, life doesn’t always go the way we planned. But our plan doesn’t matter, because we can depend on you for the plan. Thank you for being so faithful! May we trust you with all that we have! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise You, Amen.

Decapolis was the region in which Gadara was situated. So, this man was faithful in that he went to his home area as a missionary. Not only did he publish the story of what Christ had done to his family and friends, but he spread it much abroad.

Numbers 32:1-33:56

1 John 4:20 “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?”

Heavenly Father, thank you for all that you have done for us! We have so much to be thankful for. May we be good and faithful servants to you as was this man. May we always give you the praise in everything. You have given us so much, and we want to give back to you. You deserve our undying devotion. Thank you! Mark 5:19
Jesus enlists a great missionary on this day. Though the man would go with him, there was much work to do in his own back yard. Jesus knew that, though he would not be accepted by these people, this man might be a great influence among them.
Notice how he words his directions to him. He reminds the man of what had just been done for him, and he mentions compassion. These are the motivators, that Christ would do so much for us, and that he has compassion on us. It makes us want to serve him every minute.

Numbers 30:1-31:54

1 John 4:4 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

Heavenly Father, thank you for communicating with us. You lead us and guide us in the way that we should go. You give us the plan you have step by step and you supply for each need in turn. You never communicate your will to us just exactly like we would expect. But, if we will listen, you will make the way plain to us. Thank you for your work in our lives! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen.

Mark 5:18

Mark 5:18
Notice how quickly Jesus moves to leave. They come and ask him to leave, and he goes right away. But, the demoniac still catches him. Why? Why does Jesus move so quickly? Jesus had done a great work among these people, and yet they were moving to have him out of their territory. The Lord does not stay were he is not wanted, at least not in the same capacity. He would not give up on this area, but he would leave for a time.
Jesus knew that the demoniac would catch him because he had been transformed and he wanted to make a difference for his Lord. The same urgency was heard in the voice of the demoniac as was in the mouths of his countrymen, only with a difference message and motivation. He was done being afraid of the devil. He had been possessed, there was nothing left for him to know of the kingdom of darkness. He was ready to explorer the kingdom of eternal light.

Numbers 27:1-29:40

1 John 4:3 “And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.”

Heavenly Father, it is so easy for us to think of You as distant and silent. But, You are neither. You are actively communicating to those who would listen. They who desire to hear You, do so every day. You communicate Your truth through Your Word and you love to make known Your glory to us. Thank You for telling us the old story of Your Son and His death for us on Calvary! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise You, Amen.
