Matthew 24:41
   It is amazing to think that, though there are so many warnings, many will not heed. The day of judgement will come, regardless of the readiness of humanity. Indeed, it seems that for all the prophecy of Scripture people miss mostly the fact that prophecy is Jesus’ plan for the future. And there is none that can prevent His carrying it out.

Scripture Memory: James 3:9 “Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.”

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the truth found in Your Word. You have given us all that we need for life. You have even told us the future. It is overwhelming to think of all that Your book contains. Nothing is missed. if we think something is missing, we will find we do not need it. Yet, so many fail to recognize the truth. They turn their eyes from You. They think Your truth is foolishness. May we win the lost to You! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise You, Amen.

Prayer Requests: Pray for my Dad. Pray for a family that just lost a loved one. Pray for a woman with a bad infection.

Matthew 24:40
   Again we have a verse that, though one might try to apply it to the destruction of Jerusalem, fits only with the second coming. When Jesus comes some will be taken out of the world to judgment at that time. So, to be left would be a good thing.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love for us. Each day your blessings are new. You are far ahead of us with Your mercies. We think that we want more blessing than You are willing to give, but really we are just blind to most of Your blessings. You are not interested in pleasing our whims, You are interested in your glory, which works for our greatest good. Oh Father, I praise You for Your wonderful plan for us! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise You, Amen.

   And they knew not. That is the sad commentary! They knew not because they did not want to know. They would not hear. They refused to see. They perished, not just in sin, but in sinful rebellion to the truth. We are all bad. That comes with being human. But we need not ignore the truth!

Matthew 24:38
   There is nothing necessarily wrong with the actions described here. Though, to be sure, eating and marrying can be done incorrectly, that is not what is in view here. People in Noah’s day were very evil. Their eating and other activities, were likely stretched to extremes of sinful behavior. But, the focus here is more on their attitude in the midst of all this. They were going on in their activities in spite of clear warnings that God’s judgement was coming soon. They had a very apathetic attitude towards the things of God. Not only were they evil, but they were happily evil.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the truth that You have given to this old world. You have made Yourself so glorious by giving a chance to such and evil world. You allow us sinful people to be saved from the wrath to come if we will repent and turn to Christ. You have shown Yourself to be the Almighty God that You are by Your just and holy actions. Your mighty arm and Sovereign plan govern this dying world in spite of itself. Your greatness is so obvious, and yet so many turn away from Your mercy and love. May we live to serve You, Almighty Father! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise You, Amen.

Matthew 24:37
   In the days of Jonah mankind had not a care for Almighty God. Evil, evil, and more evil, was the rule of the day in that time. No matter what beliefs and religions and such that they had, they were all willfully immoral, willfully ignorant, and willfully godless. They went about their lives as if the existence of God was completely immaterial to their world. Sound familiar?

Scripture Memory: James 3:7 “For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:”

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Your law is perfect. You have given us perfect rules to live by. And yet, we have made them a horrid thing. We have seen them as a chain. We have felt You were locking us up from freedom. How misled we are! Blind and yet teaching the way to others! Oh Lord, may we never fail to follow Your way. Your mercy in sending Christ is so amazing. You have made it possible for us to follow a perfect path. How wonderful! May we lead others down the same road to glory. You are worthy of the honor, dear Father! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise You, Amen.

   The exact timing of these events is not known. In other words, Jesus’ prophecy is not intended to give us the exact day and moment of His coming, but to prepare us for its reality.

Matthew 24:35
   What Jesus is trying to tell us here is that His words are more sure than the very world around us as we know it. This prophecy of His will outlast the current course of the world. Heaven and earth shall drastically change before any of His words would fail to come to fruition. All that we think of as normal and natural, unshakable laws of nature and all, will be brought to an end before Jesus’ prophecy is complete.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for telling us the future. So many people want to know the immediate future, but ignore Your long-term plans. The immediate future matters little in light of eternity. You have showed us Your plan, and it is glorious! We praise You for Your wisdom! Matthew 24:34
   The meaning of this verse has been explained in various and sundry ways. However, the key here is the word generation. Generation can mean a couple of things. It can refer to a time period, or it can refer to a group of people. On the one hand, the time period for the destruction of Jerusalem was close. It would happen within a generation. In other words, the grandchildren of those then living would be involved in it. And that is exactly the case. However, since it also refers to a group of people or nation, Jesus is also here saying that the Jewish people would not pass away before all of this prophecy, not just the part about the destruction of Jerusalem, would happen. Indeed, the fact that Jewish people still exist is a wonder. Furthermore, when you consider that this hounded and hunted group has now one of the mightiest nations on the face of the planet, you can only wonder in awe at the accuracy of Jesus’ words.

Scripture Memory: James 3:6 “And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.”

Prayer: Heavenly father, may we never forget that You know everything. Nobody can fool You. You cannot be bought and sold, or influenced by the ways of men. You are above us. You are infinitely greater than we. You are God of all. To surrender to Your will is only to recognize the truth. Those who resist You are living in denial. They are dreaming. Oh Father, bring us to reality! May we keep our heads in Your book that we may know the truth for our lives! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise You, Amen.

   When the time grows near these signs will make it apparent. The exact time will not be known. It is because of this that many will not believe. They think He will never return, and they continue in their sin because of it. But, it is possible to know what time it is in God’s plan of events, and these things shall be signs of the end.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and goodness. You have given us so much and yet we forget it so easily. Thank You for giving us Your Son on Calvary! I cannot praise You enough. Never will we be able to thank You fully for what You have done. You are the Mighty God of heaven and earth, and Your plan is perfect. May we live our lives to serve You!
